Although it is still very early to forecast where things are going from here, the IoT Analytics research team expects the generative AI market to make up nearly 5% of global software spending by 2030 due to its disruptive nature and tremendous value
potential. Also in academia, Generative AI is widely considered an enabler for
many application domains and the Internet of Things ecosystem is certainly one of those.
Indeed, supported by Generative AI, IoT devices and services can better
interact with human users (for example through LLM-based applications) and
be more efficient, reliable and effective (for example, by autonomously
recovering data or information missing due to intermittent connectivity,
device mobility or battery exhaustion, etc.). However, the landscape of
Generative AI foundational models and platforms is continuously evolving, as
well as its deployment across the computing continuum still mostly
unexplored. Therefore, multidisciplinary workshops represent significant
opportunities of discussion to explore pioneering approaches, methods, and
solutions.

The workshop will focus on the duo IoT and Generative AI by dealing with both theoretical foundational aspects and practical applications. Emphasis will be given to generative modeling, a fundamental yet often overlooked building block of Generative AI, and to Edge Intelligence, namely those practices and methods that enable for the deployment of smartness across the computing continuum. As such, the workshop also welcomes cross-disciplinary contributions, with the topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the following:

Formal Generative AI models for IoT ecosystems

Design, simulation, and verification of Generative AI-empowered IoT systems

Languages and tools for programming smart IoT ecosystems in the computing
continuum

Applications of Generative AI for smart environments (e.g., smart cities, smart
healthcare, smart factories, etc.)

Generative AI-aided security for IoT systems and networks

Collaborations of humans and artificial agents in IoT ecosystems

AI, Edge AI and Generative AI for the computer continuum

Important Dates

Paper Submission: 20 July, 2024
Acceptance Notification: 20 August, 2024
Camera-ready Submission: 12 September, 2024

Organizing Committee

Workshop Chair
Giancarlo Fortino, University of Calabria (Italy)

Roberto Minerva, Institut Mines-Telecom – Telecom Sud Paris (France)

Claudio Savaglio, University of Calabria (Italy)

Mengchu Zhou, New jersey Institute of Technology (U.S.A.)

Technical Program Committee

TBD

Download the Call For Paper!

Co-located with the IEEE 11th World Forum on Internet of Things According to IoT Analytics’ Generative AI Market Report 2023–2030 (published December 2023), the Generative AI software and services market reached $6.2 billion in 2023.
